Personal trainer is not a new term for us. Many people hire these trained fitness professionals for staying fit. Many people are also joining this profession for several reasons. Increasing jobs in this profession is one of the main reasons while passion for fitness is another reason.
For entering this profession, one can get proper training in any medical school of NYC or other cities. After training, there are many chances of getting a job as personal trainers. One can easily find a job in gyms.
Work
  • Their main target is to train their clients in various exercises. These professionals also help in doing exercises right.
  • Personal trainers work with their clients according to their strengths and weaknesses. They measure what is lacking and what should be done. They suggest different types of exercises which will be good for their clients.
  • In the case of those clients who have some type of disease or medical condition, trainers provide them with proper exercise program, which only helps in healing.
  • It is also their responsibility to motivate their clients. These professionals give motivation for more exercise etc. They also set goals for a certain time of period. Gym goers feel motivated by goals and they try to achieve them in time.
  • Another task of these professionals is to educate people about different exercises, their benefits, nutrition and provide suggestions.
Training – For becoming a personal trainer, usually proper training is required. Other than course, a person must have at least a high school diploma with some other qualities such as automated external defibrillator certification or CPR training.
Certification – For certification, there are several exams available in United States. Some of these exams are conducted by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA). There are some more certification exams such as International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and NASM. These bodies are recognized by International Health, Racquet & Sports club Association (IHRSA).
Salary – Annual salary of these professionals is between 50,000 to 60,000 US dollars. Their wages are affected by other factors such as their certification, education, location and experience. However, those who are new in this field may get lower wages but with experience, their salaries also increase year by year. Some trainers who are more experienced can get more than 75,000 US dollars.
This profession requires passion for fitness as well as patience for teaching others.
